Sentry Electrical Group provides design and installation of foundation electrical systems for Wind Turbine Generators. This includes the design and installation of the ground rings for lightning protection, pad mounted transformers were they exist and imbedded conduits.
Sentry works closely with the turbine vendors to understand their lightning protection requirements. We measure initial electrical ground resistivity to design an optimum lightning protection system. Then after installation, the ground resistance is measured to make sure that the ground rings as installed meet the design requirements.
Our approach to pad mount installation focuses on the stability of the transformer installation over time. Our design includes full support from the turbine foundation for spread footing designs or adequate in ground foundations to support the transformer pad so that the transformer will remain stable over time.
As Sentry plans the design of imbedded conduits, they work closely with the foundation engineer to make sure the number and size of conduits will work well and can be installed in the space allowed by the re-bar spacing. We specify the conduits in a manner that they can withstand the heat that the concrete generates during the cure process.
During construction, Sentry’s site inspector use multipoint inspection to make sure the foundation electrical matches the intended design.
